At Manchester Elementary School, we build musicianship through the use of speech, singing, movement, body percussion, and instrumental play. Pre-K through 3rd grade students learn music through play: we sing songs, play games, dance to folk music, and play instruments.
Students become proficient music makers who can perform, create, and listen to music with understanding. The music room is a safe and welcoming place where students learn to appreciate music as a universal medium for human expression.
During the school year, MES students perform in their respective kindergarten, first, and second grade music programs. Third graders perform a musical play every spring. Third graders also have the opportunity to participate in the after school Third and Fourth Grade Choir.
